Learn to Scythe

April 16th 2022

Colin and Julie Comben have 5.5 acres at Honeypot Farm, predominantly with apple trees, veg beds & polytunnels, chickens and flowers. The Scything Course will be held on the Saturday 10am - 4pm although attendees will be allowed to camp over the weekend if they would like.

I started teaching last year, became a SABI member, and started selling equipment from Simon Fairlie's Scythe Shop. For 4 - 8 people I will introduce the scything motion and let everyone get to grips with handling a scythe, working around different obstacles and terrains, understanding different blades and their maintenance, explaining hay making, other uses of cut grass and looking after the land.

The day will be £60 per person and include teas/coffees and cakes, a communal lunch and no extra charge for attendees to pitch a tent.
